1. The Holocaust in general> United States Holocaust Memorial Museum By far the largest online Holocaust resource available in English. Includes documents, photos, articles and much more. Relevant for students, teachers and the general public. > www.shoa.de Probably the best online Holocaust ressource available in German. It also includes the history of the Third Reich, World War II and the period after the war. Its strength lies in its very thorough examination of Holocaust topics, many written in the form of essays, by historians and scholars. > ShoaNet Online ressource in German. Very good for news about scholarly discoveries. Also has a very good biography section. 2. Teaching about the Holocaust> A Teacher's Guide to the Holocaust Probably the best inter-active English resource as far as different features is concerned. Timelines and quizzes are the very best, although you cannot get a complete account of the Holocaust here. > United States Holocaust Memorial Museum - Topics One of the best and most complete resources in English as far as a thematic examination of the Holocaust is concerned. Brief articles with the possibility of absorption. > Museum of Tolerance. Multimedia Learning Center Targeted at American high school students. Pedagogically well constructed, with brief texts and the possibility of a more thorough examination of topics. At times a little "light-weight". > About.com: history1900s.about.com American, commercially developed web site, which includes a nice resource about the Holocaust – especially the ‘Articles’ section. 3. Documents and links> Yad Vashem - Documents The best English language collection of documents available on the Internet. > http://twi.classroom.com/holocaust/ Good categorisation of links about both the Holocaust and other genocides. 4. The combating of intolerance, racism and Holocaust denial.> The Nizkor Projekt Web site created with the purpose of combating neo-Nazism, Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism. Includes hard evidence in the form of several thousand documents available online, including the proceedings from the trial against Adolf Eichmann and the Nuremberg Tribunal. 5. In general: History on the Internet> http://history1900s.about.com/mbody.htm Despite its commercial appearance, this American web site is very useful for getting a reasonable overview over historical subjects. From an international viewpoint, American history might seem too well represented.
