Adolf Eichmann (1906-1962)

Member of the SS from 1933. In 1934 Eichmann was appointed head of the SD’s Judenreferat (the Security Service’s Jewish section). He organised the Jewish emigration from Austria in 1938 with “success”. Was occupied with Jewish matters, including deportations and the practical implementation of the Final Solution, from 1939-1945, as head of Section IV-B-4 in the RSHA (Reich Security Main Office). He was not known to the public and succeeded in escaping to South America following the war. Under great media attention he was kidnapped by Israeli intelligence, the Mossad, in 1960, and brought to trial in Jerusalem. He was sentenced to death for war crimes and executed in 1962.
